The Foundation gives priority to the feelings of young people, with the aim of making them feel secure, have a sense of purpose, and steering them away from depression or discouragement, disparagement. Thus each scholarship fund has an identifiable donor. In turn, the Foundation continuously provides information of the scholarship recipients to the donor, whether the decision of the Board throughout the selection process, the examination results and other achievements of the scholarship recipients in each academic year. The young person is given the name of the scholarship sponsor and is taught to appreciate the value of giving and loving kindness, and is encouraged to make connection with the sponsors through writing letters and cards on auspicious occasions.
While the Governor of each province is the Chairman of the Provincial Committee, the Governor's
wife is Chairman of the Provincial Consultative Committee for the grantees. Given this role, the governors’ wives pay visits and follow up on the well being of the grantees. They help to find solutions to any problems that may arise in a timely manner. In form of support helps the underprivileged children to feel secure, know that they are not alone, and to strengthen family unit which in turns reduce the problem of drug addiction. The Foundation offers this support to underprivileged Thai youths who show good record of behaviour and are likely to become competent citizens who will continue develop the country, function well in the society (public-minded), loyal to the country and religion and the King.
The Foundation has a mission to develop underprivileged Thai youths at all ages through
consistently distributing scholarships for moral education of Thai youths to all districts. There are currently around 3,000 such scholarships each year, amounting to 7 million Baht. Since its inception, the Foundation has given more than 24,046 scholarships for moral education, with the total budget of 153.5 million Baht. In addition, the Foundation has received donations from various activities on special occasions to commemorate the King and to contribute to the King’s charitable causes totaling 114.88 million Baht.
On top of this, the Foundation engages in various projects, such as
1. On the auspicious occasion of the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary, the Foundation carried out a project to create a permanent fund for the King to support the academic scholarships for less privileged youth. The revenues from interests accrued have been used to support the academic scholarships since 1996. Until academic year 2009, 75 scholarships have been granted, totaling 1,420,500 baht. During 2009 alone, 46 scholarships were granted, totaling 281,000 baht.
2. On the auspicious occasion of the 84th Birthday Anniversary of H.R.H. Princess Galyani Vadhana, Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra, the Foundation together with the Interior Ministry organized the construction of a building designated for practicing Buddhist teachings, named “ Dhamma Practice Building
to Celebrate 84th the Birthday anniversary in the year of B.E. 2550 of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana at Thepprathan Temple, Soi Dao District, Chanthaburi Province.
3. Arrange for Thai youths from all over the country to make educational excursion in Bangkok and surrounding areas. This annual activity is supported by Assumption University to give young Thais the chance to enrich their cultural experience with the aim to foster their attachment to the Thai culture.
4. Arrange for Thai youths from all over the country to be trained in Dhamma regularly for 7-8 days at a time, in honour of the Royal Family at Thepprathan Temple, Soi Dao District, Chanthaburi Province.
In the past, the Foundation has organised activities on various auspicious occasions in honour of Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit and members of the royal family, such as :
1. Organised historical merit making event that is “ the Grand Mahachati sermon for
Great Charity ” in honour of His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej 80th Birthday Anniversary. The project was in collaboration with the Interior Ministry, Bangkok Metropolitan, and Office of the National Buddhism and provinces around the country. The merit making activity took place over 4 days in Bangkok and was granted by the Royal Family to take place at the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in the Royal Palace. Five members of the Royal Family presided over the occasion during the event. Over 39 million baht was raised which was bestowed to H.R.M. the King Bhumibol Adulyadej for charitable causes of H.R.M. the King’s choice at the Chitrlada Pala
2. Arranged for the publication of over 600,000 copies of “ The Most Grateful King ” to distribute to Thai subjects all over the country. The aim is to publicise another aspect of the H.R.M. the King as a loving son through the beautiful gestures of H.R.M. the King to H.R.H. the Princess Mother. To help reinforce and inspire Thai youth today of their duties to their parents as good sons and daughters – a building block for solid family institution and a solid nation the future.
3. On the auspicious occasion of the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary and H.R.H. Princess Galyani Vadhana, Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra’s 84th Birthday Anniversary, the Foundation and the M.L. Maniratana Bunnag Dhamma Society Fund under the Patronage of the His Holiness Somdet Phra Nyanasamvara The Supreme Patriarch of Thailand (the pioneer of the publication of the 40-volume World Tipitaka Edition in Roman script, collaborated in the Princess Galyani Vadhana's Tipitaka Endowment Fund Project 2007-2009 with the aim to present the World Tipitaka to institutes around the world, following the footstep of King Rama the IV who presented the Tipitaka in Siam Script to institutions around the world in the last century. 4. Ordained young monks who received scholarships from Ruamchit Normklao Foundation
for 15 days. Young Buddhists from all over the country were ordained at Phra Prathom Jedi, Nakhon Pathom province. This activity allows young Buddhists to be educated in the dhamma in honour of Ruamchit Normklao Foundation’s patron, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s 72nd Anniversary.
5. Organised “Tod Pa Pah” ceremony (funding raising activity) for Phra Prathom Jedi, Nakhon
Pathom province, in honour of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother.
6. Funded a construction of a school building for young monks at Wat Prasitdhammasarn, Nongrua District, Khon Kaen province, in honour of the 48th Anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Mahachakri Sirindhorn, the Honorary Chairman of Advisory Committee.
